"Established in Cairo in 2006, Etijah has since become one of Egypt's leading NGOs. Our vision is of a fair and inclusive society where every individual, family and community has the opportunity to contribute to and benefit from Egypt's social, political and economic development. We strive to build an environment where everyone — especially women, girls and refugees — can live free from violence and discrimination and access the resources and opportunities to improve their lives and shape a better future for their communities."
flag Mission
Etijah's mission is to empower youth and marginalised communities by addressing all forms of inequality. We focus in particular on the empowerment of women and girls, working to end gender-based violence and to expand their access to education, livelihoods and leadership opportunities. Another priority is the inclusion and protection of refugees, a growing part of Egyptian society who face distinct challenges in achieving stability and autonomy. Etijah also strengthens the capacities of youth organisations in Egypt to build civil society and provide a professional, safe environment for youth-development work — strengthening the bonds between organisations and moving young people from beneficiaries to active citizens.
